As SWM retreats, all eyes set on North East Monsoon

The South West Monsoon (SWM) has further withdrawn from remaining parts of Rajasthan, entire Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, some parts of East Uttar Pradesh, West & East Madhya Pradesh and some more parts of Gujarat state & North Arabian Sea. Conditions are favorable for further withdrawal of SWM from remaining parts over the next 2 – 3 days.

A low pressure area is likely to develop over south east Arabian sea around 6th October. It is likely to intensify into a depression and move North-West-Wards during subsequent 48 hours. Fishermen are advised not to venture into South east & Central Arabian Sea from 7th October 2018 onwards, and those in deep sea areas are advised to return to coast before the said date.

Heavy rain very likely at isolated places over Tamil Nadu & Pudhucherry and Kerala. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning very likely at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharastra and Coastal and Interior Karnataka, and most parts of south east India.

 

City Outlook:

Chennai – Warm and very humid with chance of a shower in early morning. Temperatures will settle at 34/26C.

Vellore – Very warm and sunny with very less chance of rains. Day time highs will settle for 35C. Night will be comfortable at 25C.

Trichy – Very warm and clear skies will prevail with max of 36C and min of 26C. No chance of rains.

Madurai – Comfortable day with partly cloudy skies and chance of a shower late. Day high of 34C and lows of 24C is forecast.

Coimbatore – Slightly warm day with a chance of a thundershower late. Mercury will settle at 33/23C.
