Monsoon onset imminent over Kerala

The South West Monsoon (SWM) has advanced into the Andamans and its Northern limit is set to advance further in the coming days into both Bay if Bengal and Arabian Sea. One can expect the onset onto Kerala in the next 2-3 days.

Due to the synoptic conditions in the Bay and Arabian seas, light to moderate showers are expected in Kerala and South Karnataka with Isolated heavy rain. As fa r as Tamilnadu is concerned, the convective thunderstorms during the day in the interiors and ghats are bound to continue for the next couple of days.

Keaweather would update Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) to track SWM advancement over parts of India and other interesting facts in this section. Currently NLM continues to pass through Lat 5°N/ Long 80°E, lat 8°N/ Long 87°E, Car Nicobar and Lat 11°N/Long 99°E.

Chennai – Sunny and sultry with a high of 36 degrees and a low of about 29 degrees.

Vellore – Sunny and hot with a high of about 38 degrees and a low of about 27 degrees.

Madurai – Clear with a high of about 38 degrees and a low of about 27 degrees. Thunderstorms are expected on this day.

Trichy – Warm with chance of late PM thunderstorms. High of about 38 degrees.

Coimbatore – Partly cloudy with a high of about 33 degrees and a low of about 24 degrees. Chance of thunderstorms mainly after evening.
