The famed “Khatri” heat has been docile thus far against the run of play in the state of TN with an exception of few places like Tirutani, Vellore which have managed to touch the 40 degree mark in the first fortnight. Thanks to the sumptuous evening thunderstorms, most places across the state, interiors in particular have had their appetite filled to the brim. This extravagant bouquet of evening thunderstorms has helped in keeping the temperatures in check across the said region.
Meanwhile all eye’s are on the pre monsoon system in the form of a well marked low pressure area over South West Arabian sea & neighborhood with associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 kms above MSL. Numerical models expect this to move West- North westwards towards Gulf of Aden and concentrate into a depression without affecting the Indian region.
The North – South wind discontinuity from North interior Karnataka to South TN across south interior Karnataka will ensure thunderstorm activity at isolated places in Interior TN and South Interior Karnataka.
