October has seen a strong start with evening thunderstorms over many parts of peninsular India. This trend is expected to continue with support from a lower level trough across interior TN. Numerical models indicate weakening of westerly winds leading to slow moving storms which can cause moderate to heavy rainfall in isolated spells, especially over North TN. Southwest monsoon withdrawal continues to be delayed with current monsoon axis extending across Gujarat until Uttar Pradesh.
