Monsoon Prime time is all set to begin in Extreme South Peninsular India and Srilanka under the influence of Easterly waves, ripe in moisture, which has taken shape in South West Bay of Bengal contours. Heavy to very heavy spells are forecast over Tamil Nadu and Eastern Srilanka as the winds carry with it sufficient moisture to precipitate over vast areas. Coastal Tamilnadu in particular will be witness to intense rains from Friday through Sunday, while interior parts of the state would witness moderate to light rains.
Rains are expected to taper down by early next week over North Tamil Nadu but not before it could wipe out the long standing deficits in an unusual dry November. Long range models expect the monsoon to stick around longer than normal which again is tend to be dynamic. Up North, Western Disturbances have dropped fair bit of snow up in Himachal and Uttarakhand and as it passes, the North plains are expected to cool down further.
