Cyclone Vayu in Arabian Sea continues to intensify under favorable oceanic and atmospheric conditions and is all set to impact the Gujarat coast on the 13th of June, 2019. The system continues to move northwards along the western periphery of a deep layered subtropical anticyclone positioned over India. The system during the next 24 hours , as it moves offshore Maharashtra coast will bring in strong winds and surging oceans with high waves along the coast including Mumbai with on and off passing gusty showers. Meanwhile, in south India, especially Tamil Nadu, the north coastal districts will continue to reel under heat wave like conditions with strong westerlies advecting in hot air into the region and delaying the sea breeze moderation of afternoon temperatures. Many parts of east coast and east central India will continue to see heat wave conditions. Monsoon onset phase will progress along the west coast over the next few days gradually.
