The low pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal near Sri Lanka and associated cyclonic circulation persists. This is expected to enter Comorin sea and bring copious rainfall to South Tamil Nadu and decent showers to other parts of Tamil Nadu from today.
Another fresh low pressure area is likely to develop over Southeast Bay of Bengal near Andaman around 29th November.
Cold wave tightens grip over northwestern plains for the last many days and minimum temperatures have been dropping continuously across Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR.

1997 saw one of the wettest NEM that had no depression or cyclones. Most of the rains were from Monsoon Easterly waves. Chennai got 1570mm and TN recorded its wettest ever 810 mm.
