South West Monsoon has advanced further slightly northwards into southern parts of south Arabian Sea and some parts of Bay of Bengal on the account of deepening south westerlies and continuing convection in the zone aforementioned. An east-west shear zone is very likely to form over extreme South India, which would lead to the onset of the monsoon over Kerala subsequently. Meanwhile, north west and parts of north west India continue to reel under severe to very severe heat wave with Churu in west Rajasthan recording the highest maximum temperature of 50.3 C. Pre-Monsoon showers will continue across the country as usual.
