Monsoon to swing strong as the Bay spins up more

After yet another day of isolated rainfall in parts of South Tamil Nadu, the conditions remain good for further precipitation in the zone. The low pressure area around south Sri Lanka persists and is expected to move west, northwest and further intensify. Under the influence, many places in south coastal Tamil Nadu and South interior Tamil Nadu can receive isolated heavy rainfall.

Depending on the position and track, a few outer bands can bring light showers to North TN and interior TN as well. Subsequently the trough near Malay Peninsula is expected to organize into a low pressure and further intensify into a depression in the days to come, this would be under a close watch.

City Outlook:

Chennai – Yet another comfortable day with low clouds with a maximum of 31 C. Isolated showers are possible through the day.

Coimbatore – Mix clouds and sun with a chance of a shower or two rain over the area. A day max of 31 C followed by a cool night.

Madurai – Cloudy with a day time high of 30 C, Isolated showers are possible through the day.

Trichy – Cloudy day with a max of 30 C, good chance of thunderstorms during the day.

Vellore – Periods of clouds and sunshine with a high of 30 C followed by a pleasant night.
