Rains to Abate over TN only to come back next week

The Trough of low in South west bay of Bengal, near Sri Lanka has become less marked, however the rains spells persisted across the state. The rainfall activity is expected to subside from today and a short dry period to set in as the incoming disturbance from Malay peninsula may take another couple of days to become more organized.

Numerical models indicate that the Bay might host a Low pressure area by weekend under the influence of this circulation, the track of which would evolve in the days to come. Isolated showers may continue for over TN and Pondy over the next 24-36 hours.

City Outlook:

Chennai – Clouds and Sun with a high of 29/30C. A shower or two in parts of the city.

Vellore – Partly cloudy with a high of 29C. Spotty showers possible.

Trichy – Balmy and pleasantly sunny with highs of 30 C. Cloudy night to follow.

Madurai – Partly cloudy with max of 30/31C. Chances does exist for a shower or two during the day.

Coimbatore – A shower of two possible with mix of Sun and clouds, temperature to reach a high of about 30C.
