Fresh spell of easterly rains is set to usher in the Monsoon Rhapsodies for parts of the Tamilnadu which is eager to close out the season with a late flourish. Extended monsoon season is not uncommon which is often a resultant of delayed retraction of ITCZ towards the Southern Hemisphere. Assisted by a trough in Easterlies, most parts of Delta and South Tamilnadu is forecast to see light to moderate rains for next 2-3 days. Whereas in other places, it would be an odd shower with ample cloud cover. Ramanathapuram, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Karaikal, Cuddalore and Pudukottai districts could see heavy rains in one or two places. On a longer run, one more wet spell would greet the state early next week to close out the season.
Western disturbance with an induced circulation is currently dropping plenty of snow in the higher reaches of Himalayas in Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Nepal. And more snow is forecast for these places whereas in the foothills and Northern plains, this system would induce fairly widespread moderate rains and hailstorms over large parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh. Owing to this phenomenon, cold day conditions would prevail in Punjab, Haryana and once the feature passes, a sharp dip in max and min temperatures are forecast over much of North India.
