North East Monsoon rains are off the mark in style having lashed most parts of Tamilnadu and Kerala in last 3 days. Assisted by trough at mid levels and a low pressure over South East Arabian sea, active monsoon weather would continue in South Peninsular India. Rainfall anomalies suggest that parts of Kerala Coastal Karnataka and Maharashtra would witness heavy rains (accompanied by lightning) in the coming days under the influence of the low pressure area pulling potent moisture from both the seas. Short range forecasts hinting at rains spreading all the way till Pune Nasik Nagpur and Surat.
In Tamil Nadu, routine showers would continue in many parts of the state but the vigour would be much lesser than the onset spells witnessed. Indications are that sedate monsoon weather will prevail for next 2-3 days. Chances are good for South West Bay of Bengal to host a circulation on its own which would usher in the active spell late next week. Kerala and Coastal Karnataka would witness heavy rains for next 2-3 days under the influence of low pressure in Arabian sea.
