Oppressive heat is likely to continue in interior Tamil Nadu, while the areas right along the coast would get some respite. Temperatures exceeding 40 C are likely at a few places in Tamil Nadu near Karur. The rest of India, particularly the states of Odisha, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana along with many places in West Bengal, Maharashtra and the northern plains are likely to witness severe temperatures reaching 40 C, even up to 45 C at one or two places. On the rain front, thundershowers are likely in Kerala and Karnataka along the Western Ghats, under the influence of orography and daytime heating. One or two places in Tamil Nadu along the Ghats might witness rains. Due to an upper air circulation set up under the influence of an upper tropospheric trough and the surrounding topography, rainfall is likely in the northeastern states of India and Bangladesh with one or two heavy falls. Isolated convective showers are also likely in West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and interior Karnataka.
