After a slightly subdued day in terms of rainfall and temperature across Tamil Nadu, typical summer weather is likely to resume from today. Thunderstorm activity to resume despite the mercury soaring levels, with particular concentration in the northern and north western areas of Tamil Nadu, and one or two places in Central Tamil Nadu. The neighbouring states of Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana could see wet weather too with thunderstorms in the interiors of Kerala and Karnataka, along with Rayalaseema in Andhra Pradesh.
Thunderstorms accompanied with squall are very likely to occur at isolated places over North and North Eastern India, inter alia in West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya. Dust storms are very likely over Northern and North Western India.
Temperature is likely to be a touch hotter vis a vis yesterday with temperatures of around 39-40 C in parts of Tamil Nadu.
Chennai – Hot day with partly cloudy skies, with a maximum temperature of 38 – 39 C, with a very slim chance of rainfall.
Madurai – A hot day with mercury level peaking at 38-39 C, followed by a slight chance of thunderstorm later in the day.
Trichy – Thundershowers possible in the district following a hot day with a maximum temperature of 38-39 C.
Coimbatore – A warm and comfortable day with the mercury striking 33-34 C at maximum. Showers possible in the district.
Vellore – Hot day ahead with rains likely in the evening. Maximum temperature of 39 – 40 C.
