South West Monsoon is active over South Peninsula in the sub divisions of South Interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema. Enhanced precipitation in these regions is attributed to the trough which runs between North Kerala and the cyclonic circulation located in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Mysuru, Mandya, Tumakuru and Bangalore districts are seeing widespread rains for past 3 days and the rains are expected to continue for next few days causing localised flooding in low lying areas.
In Tamil Nadu, North West Interior districts like Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri are witness to heavy spells which spilled over from neighbouring South Interior Karnataka. These places will continue to see rains for next few days. General consensus among models is that the ongoing spell of thundershowers will reduce in intensity over Tamil Nadu in the coming days and dry end to September is likely as SWM draws a close.
